Advanced Accounting 7i (r5) has been tested under Windows 8 and works as expected without any known issues. We expect the same to be true of the latest releases of TAS Premier. Legacy 16-bit versions will not run directly as with past 64-bit versions of Windows. The use of the Microsoft Virtual PC was an option with Windows 7; with Windows 8 this has been replaced with Hyper-V which is included but must be enabled. We have not tested Hyper-V with legacy 16-bit versions of Advanced Accounting or TAS. There may also be third party options for 16-bit versions, but, most users will simply want to move forward to the newer 32-bit versions. The 32-bit legacy Btrieve 6.15 database engine appears to work under Windows 8 in the same way it has under prior versions of Windows and using the same setup and techniques we developed long ago to properly configure it. For newer users of "Btrieve" (now called Pervasive), in January of 2013 Pervasive Software released PSQL v11 SP3 which provided specific support for Windows 8 and Windows 2012 Server. |
