Changing customer and vendor names to uppercase |

Searching by customer or vendor name is facilitated when all names are in UPPERCASE (make sure your CAPS lock key is on when conducting a search). In the latest 5.1 versions, these names are forced to uppercase automatically. If you have older data that was entered in mix case, you can easily change all names to be uppercase.
To automatically change all customer names to uppercase letters in Advanced Accounting, you would do the following:
- Go into File Utilities (in the DOS mode of Advanced Accounting)
- Then go into Change/Delete Records
- At File Name enter BKARCUST and File Extension accept B*
- At Enter what you want to do here (M/D)? enter M
- Put the cursor on BKAR.CUSTNAME and enter
- At ENTER FIELD MODIFIER EXPRESSION HERE type UP(BKAR.CUSTNAME) and press enter
- Press ESC to go to the next screen
- At OWNERS NAME press enter
- At RECORD FILTER/ENTER THE FILTER EXPRESSION press enter leaving the field empty
- At this point the program will change all records from lowercase to uppercase letters.
To automatically change all vendors names to uppercase letters, you would do the following:
- Go into File Utilities (in the DOS mode of Advanced Accounting)
- Then go into Change/Delete Records
- At File Name enter BKAPVEND and File Extension accept B*
- At Enter what you want to do here (M/D)? enter M
- Put the cursor on BKAP.VENDNAME and enter
- At ENTER FIELD MODIFIER EXPRESSION HERE type UP(BKAP.VENDNAME) and press enter
- Press ESC to go to the next screen
- At OWNERS NAME press enter
- At RECORD FILTER/ENTER THE FILTER EXPRESSION press enter leaving the field empty
- At this point the program will change all records from lowercase to uppercase letters.
*File extension of B normally signifies your main or default company. If you have more than one company add the additional identifying one or two digit(s). You can determine what the company identifiers are by going to U-Utilities and then I-Change Company Code.
